Maybe he meant George Michael the singer/songwriter.

Can I just say how much I love Arrested Development? Min and I bought the series here and started watching it last night, and we couldn't stop! It was like nights of "one more pitcher" at the beer garden in Queens - we kept crying out for "one more episode!" Today we've been trading emails of lines from the show that crack us up, including the title of this post and:

"he's a never nude"

"money's in the banana stand"

"who'd ever want to mess with us, huh?"

Hilarious! Thank God for DVDs. Especially thank God for them in China since TV is so bad. In addition to having these awesome DVDs, the weather has been better for the past few days. It actually feels a lot like Oklahoma - blue skies, very sunny, hot and dry. Also I think I'm finally on the mend from my 6 weeks of consecutive illness. I had some more Beijing stomach this weekend and was really worried I had another awful bacteria infection, but this one seems to have worked itself out of my system quickly with only one minor shitting of my pants episode. Mmmmm ........ tasty thought. I also saw my first ever movie theatre movie in China this weekend - Transformers. I was expecting to find it lame because I never liked the cartoon as a kid, but I actually really liked it. It was so nice to be at the movies, and the friends I went with were huge Transformers fans as kids so they were really into it. I was also disappointed because they only had sweet popcorn - no salt and butter - but the sweet popcorn turned out to be delicious and much less sickening than buttery popcorn. And my boss came back from vacation this week and has been acting very impressed with the work I'm doing today. And I've just started a new book and it's just as interesting as the book I just finished. My star is on the rise people! I think Jupiter has aligned with Mars! And I think maybe, just maybe, it's all thanks to the joy Arrested Development has brought into my life!

Yay Arrested Development!  They never get old either, i think i've seen all the seasons at least 2 or 3 times.  And it seems like every 6 months or so we get on an Arrested kick and rewatch them all.

I didn't get to start A Walk in the Woods yet.  I'm still reading Widening Circles that Amy bought us at the wedding.  I'll probably start it later this week though.   We did go on an awesome hike starting at Bear Lake at Estes this weekend (I think you guys went there with my parents).  We hiked up to Emerald Lake which took us about 2.5 hours.  It was pretty awesome, it makes me want to hike every weekend!

Welcome back to xanga. Maybe you can put some charge back into the community. Plus, I think we all needed a change from reading Amy's posts.

Lyon is rude and ugly.  Anyway, I told you that AD was amazing!! I'm so glad you like it.  It only gets better as you go along too and Steph is right.  You can watch the episodes over and over again and pick up new things every time.  I'm glad you are liking your job, and I'm really glad that you now have joined the pooping pants club with the Johnst.  I only hope you said "I just crapped my pants, wanna make love?" to Min after it happened.  The only Deep Dive Min is going to participate in is into your crap-filled underpants!!  I'm sure when Chris heads over here he will give you an ear-full (or eye-full since it is a blog) about how inferior the T-formers movie was to the cartoons.  I actually thought the movie was okay for being a Micheal Bay movie about transforming robots and was personally very happy the story focused on people instead of the robots, but Chris will get pissed when he reads this.  Anyway, keep on watching AD and loving them!  Oh, and I think the quote on your blog post should be "Maybe he meant George Michael the singer-songwriter"-not Michael Bolton.  Cheers!

"I actually thought the movie was okay for being a Micheal Bay movie about transforming robots" Isn't expectation violation great? Michael Bay sucks, but the movie wasn't bad. (I'll agree in small part with Chris, but that wasn't enough to make me hate it.)

Erin, of course your boss thinks you rock. It's because you f'in rock.

Oh, and have you considered http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZfehplkTofs ?

Oh i forgot to tell you, i had the same sweet popcorn problem in Hong Kong.  It was pretty tasty though, but i was disappointed there was no butter.

I, like everyone else, am thrilled that you've started Arrested Development.  Didn't we tell you it was worth it?  And they DO only keep getting better.  The 3rd season is insane.

Amy is absolutely right about getting an eyeful of opinions about the new Transformers movie.  Before I copy and paste from something I'd already written for someone else, I'd like to make a preemptive strike against the the "it's an action movie; you're supposed to check your brain at the door" argument.  I don't buy into it; it's a load of shit.  People shouldn't lower their standards just because a movie involves fighting and/or explosions.  I'm not an anti-action snob either; there are plenty of action movies that I love, and the reason that I love them is because they don't come up short on character depth and/or plot.

Even without admittedly geeky insistence that the movie follow even the most basic canon (such as Megatron is supposed to be A GUN YOU FUCKING FUCKTARDS), the individual Autobot & Decepticon characters were woefully underdeveloped and underdifferentiated, assuming that that last thing is, in fact, a word.  The old cartoon managed to have plenty of dynamic characters, and with only a fraction of the budget & expectations.  It would appear that the movie scrapped these elements because they wanted the audience to relate to the human characters, which were even more worthless.  There's a reason the franchise is called "Transformers" and not "People From a Teen Comedy About Idiots Who Briefly Stumble Upon Some Robots From Outer Space, And Then Resume Their Normal Lives Making Out On One Of Said Robots' Hoods".

The battle sequences were just confusing too, because the characters all looked the same.  When Megatron ripped the Autobot in half (was it Jazz?), my reaction was "Who was tha...oh wait, it doesn't matter because even if I did know, the movie hasn't given me any reason to care that he's dead."

In conclusion:

"NO TOUCHING!  NO TOUCHING!"

I second Lyon's call and add this:  You're an idiot, Lebowski.

Hey, Lebowski may be an idiot, but at least he knows that Zelda's left-handed.
